Lately, I keep thinking about how I define success

Lately, I keep thinking about how I define success and wealth, like what really matters and how I can adapt my daily habits to support both my health and happiness. Goodness knows, it’s an ongoing challenge for many of us.

☹️For those who don’t know, I have MS, a chronic condition that’s taught me the importance of pacing myself, resting well, and finding balance. Managing it means making intentional lifestyle choices, through diet, movement, and mindful living, to support my nervous system and overall wellbeing.

💚But honestly, whether you live with a health condition or not, we can all benefit from small daily shifts that support better balance, health, and joy.

🌱So without further ado, here are a few little habits I’ve been weaving into my daily life to help regulate my nervous system and cultivate more ease:

🐝Taking a walk in nature every day—this one’s non-negotiable

🛀🏻Enjoying a warm bath with essential oils a few times a week

👯Playing my favourite music and singing while doing the dishes

💼Reducing my working hours to a four-day week (total game changer)

🌷Sitting out in the garden getting all the vitamin D and pottering whenever I can

🐰Spending time with cute animals—Pickle, Bertie, and Percy

🛌Prioritising 8 hours of sleep a night, as often as possible

These may seem simple, but they’ve made a big difference.

May: Spring is so far currently ranking at the driest spring in over a century according to the Met Office. So, we drank in the sunny days in the garden, with a chaser of climate anxiety. Here are a few highlights of recent shenanigans…

🦋The new pond is attracting dragonflies, butterflies, bees, a worm who lives under the water, blue tits, robins, alas no frogs as yet.
🪿Walks around the parks of south Manchester has been such a joy, seeing all the new life bursting into action.
🪏I enjoyed seeing my little nephew Vincent getting into gardening.
👱🏼‍♀️We had a pool party in Nick and Mikes amazing garden
👩🏼‍🦰Of course, I chopped off my hair for @officiallittleprincesstrust
🎸Had the most EPIC night seeing @springsteen with @patrickmacaulay and @terrylemac
🎂Celebrated @terrylemac aka the worlds best sisters birthday
☕️Enjoyed iced coffee’s with @dollydpinup outside the amazing @groundedmcr cafe in our local park
🥂Celebrated Hayley’s 40th with a hilarious night of karaoke 🎤
🌸Spent a healthy amount of time patting myself on the back for successfully growing flowers, after last years slug disaster. Anyone else noticed the difference this year?
🐰Rabbit cuddles and antique shopping with Helena
✊🏻Meandered around the Women in Revolt exhibition @whitworthart with the lads
💚Have loved the early mornings in the garden, just @picklemacaulayturner and a cup of tea, watching the flowers bloom and seeing the birds

Here’s to celebrating the glimmers of joy in every day

From alleyways to bountiful vegetable patches, every garden was full of inspiration and heart. 🌸 These are just a few snapshots of my personal highlights, there were some absolutely outstanding gardens.
✨ All proceeds from the Levenshulme & Burnage Open Gardens Event go towards @growingtogetherlevenshulme supporting community gardening and green spaces in the area.
💚Proud to see our beautiful neighbourhood in bloom.

✂️ They turn donated locks into real-hair wigs for kids and young people up to age 24 who’ve lost theirs due to cancer or other conditions. Bonus: they also fund groundbreaking childhood cancer research.
